Golden Globe nominees announced

Golden Globe nominees were announced earlier today. “Frost/Nixon” is one of the films receiving multiple nominations, including Best Motion Picture-Drama, Best Performance by an Actor-Drama, Best Director-Motion Picture and Best Screenplay-Motion Picture.

“Frost/Nixon” was written by Peter Morgan  and was based on the stage play Morgan wrote. A touring version of the play was built and debuted in Owensboro in September.

Other nominees for the Golden Globes include Meryl Streep, who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in both the drama and comedy/musical categories for her performances in “Doubt” andMamma Mia,” respectively.

Tom Cruise  and Robert Downey, Jr. both received nominations for Best Actor in a Supporting Role-Motion Picture for “Tropic Thunder.”  To see the complete list of nominees, click here. The Golden Globes are given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and will be awarded live at 7 p.m. Central time, Jan. 11 on NBC.
