Disney’s Secretariat will be released on Oct. 8, but Kentucky-area residents will have the chance to get a sneak peek at the film. A special screening of the movie is on Oct. 3 at the Kentucky Theatre in Lexington, according to a press release from Gov. Steve Beshear‘s office.
Tickets for the screening go on sale on Wednesday. Individual tickets start at $125 and include general admission to the screening and a cocktail reception, the press release states. A $250 ticket includes reserved seating at the screening and the cocktail reception. Proceeds from the screening will benefit the Secretariat Foundation, a charitable organization that serves the thoroughbred racing community, the press release states.
“The spectacular story of Secretariat is tightly woven into the horse legacy of Kentucky – truly, this film could not have been made anywhere else but here in the horse capital of the world,” Gov. Beshear said in the press release. “I worked hard to create film credits as part of our new economic development incentives package that will attract movie projects like Secretariat, and our efforts have clearly paid off. I speak for the citizens of the Commonwealth when I say we can’t wait to see Big Red on the big screen.”
Tickets can be purchased beginning Wednesday at secretariat.com.
